EARLY NOTE MANAGEMENT METHODS
Data is only useful if it is easy to utilize. For example, it is common to add several lines of notes to records. These notes are only useful if the information contained within them is readily usable, though.
Older methods for recording notes severely limit data usability. First, data insertion and deletion is not intuitive. Second, data entry occurs on fixed-width lines with no word wrapping. Third, and most importantly, users must overwrite old notes due to space limitations. Thus, note organization suffers. Eventually, the data is useless because it cannot be easily searched or archived.

BETTER RECORD KEEPING WITH MEMOS
The memo field was introduced in filePro version 5.0. With memos, notes use only the space they need on the system. Thus, users can enter an unlimited amount of text. This enables detailed record keeping without deleting old data. On top of this, each record can have as many notes as needed. See the sample memo below.
